Hello, can anyone help me figure out what is needed to open an MX track legally in Cambridge , Ontario. We have 27 acres of farm land and all the equipment. But can't seem to find any info on permits, rules or permissions needed to start a track. We would like to eventually have it open to the public for amateurs riders looking to get some practice in and have some fun. If anyone knows anything on what is needed I would greatly appreciate it. You can contact the CITY HALL , ask them the zoning of your "farm" land,, and its legal uses.
But I can tell you,, all over Ontario,, people have tried to start this ambition, and once the bylaw officer spots it.. or someone calls in and asks .."How do THEY get to run a track?" or,,,, is there a noise bylaw?? I can't stand living this close to that noise.....
or .... remember the million dollar payouts in insurance that ended the last track in cambridge?? some folks called it "THE Baja" or Cambridge Dirt Riders track..

If you talk with clubs that run races at existing tracks.. like Paris .. New Hamburg, Welland,,, they have a lot of practical experience

otherwise,, head up to Durham,, places that don't have enough money to have a real council.. and don't have the bylaws in place to thwart a RACE FACILITY

look at places that exist,, and see how they get around the bylaws..

BTW,,, why don't you turn the 27 acres into condo's... or factories.. or plaza's ,,,

If you are actually in the Township... contact Township Hall... but there are recently 4 landowners who already groomed a track,, and were riding it.. and where told cease and desist or be fined

there is one on hwy 8 ... beside cambridge,, in Hamilton ... that are going to open same idea... but all the neighbors are already complaining..

Good LUCK! :-)

I wish you good luck, and want the details on how to get there once its ready to ride!

The best way to have a Cambridge track is to put it on Six Nations.

Welcome!
