missingfont.jpgquite often my browser shows icons instead of letters? I suspect I am missing a font or something,,,
when I view this page http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?159909-Tail-gated-gt-Lane-split i don't see the user name for the OP.. instead I see small blocks that resemble domino , but instead of the dots, I see EC over EP or something like that?
hopefully you can see the screen grab I included in this post...
where would I look to see what font I am missing.. ?
Thanks! winXP firefox 12.0
i looked in properties, and In the window that opens check the box next to Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above. doesn't seem to make a difference

Yup, Chinese. Good guess.

according to translate.google.com his name is Wells Cardinal :P

That poster's name is in Chinese (?)
It's not you.

It's sort of both of them. It's chinese characters but it shows up on the OP's screen as those weird number blocks because he lacks the character set to display them properly.

OP, what browser version and OS are you running? I'm not 100% certain whether the character set must be installed at the OS level but modern web browsers should be able to display this. You can also try checking the text encoding in your browser (for example, in Chrome it's under 'Tools> Encoding') and play around with the options there.

He's just a weird character.

Win XP sp3 Firefox 12.0 view >charactor encoding>auto detect> off.. didn't work view >charactor encoding>auto detect> universal didn't work

I'm pretty sure it OS level as I use multiple versions of windows and a few browsers but the OS seems to be the limiting factor, I know you can install international character sets to 'fix' it but have seen them cause as many problems as they solve. Besides, it's not like I can read it anyway, so I don't bother.

Really? I thought it meant jerk-off.

I would have my name as 干你妈 if I actually wanted to be offensive =P

For all the cool kids, it's Heero Yuy. Could have used katakana instead but it would have been longer than.

And @ OP, get off Windows XP. You're using deprecated software.
