Soirée for Sight's candle-lit yoga raises over $3000
On Novermber 23, 2011 Lole, a fitness boutique in Oakville, Ontario hosted the first ever Soiree for Sight - a community fundraiser supporting the FFB. Molly Burke, an Oakville student doing a co-op placement at the business, and a long-time FFB spokesperson, led her colleageus to create a yoga-themed fundraiser to raise money for retinal research.
With the work by Molly, her fellow staff and other local shops and merchants, Lole hosted between 150-200 guests that evening, who enjoyed candle-lit yoga, a silent auction, food and live music.
The store even donated 15% of all purchases made that night toward the cause as well. By the end of the event, over $3000 in donations and silent auction bids were collected in honour of vision research.
