Watch where you park your Bike

Yesterday downtown with the gf, I watched a guy back in to a bike. I was yelling at him to stop but even with his windows down he didn't. I walked up to the window and let him have it as if it was my own bike. The driver just was like oh i didn't see it, my response to that was u should open your your eyes. His wife told me to shut up and my gf tore her a new one.... loved it:lol:. I looked at the bike and took the licence plate down and left the owner a note.

Hope he gets that guy back

So just watch where you park

cheers

One of the many reasons I don't leave my bike out of sight/park in congested areas...

this was not in a congested area, there was so many more parking spots for this guy and he could have drove away, I didn't understand the need for him to back up.

Would it be appropriate to pretend to be the owner of the bike? Come out and just say, hey buddy you hit my bike. Give me your info?

No. just call the station and report it.

What if he asked for your info in return...? like it just boggles my mind that people done see stuff around them or how ignorant they can be. WAKE UP PPL

Your one of a few.
On any given day there could be 50 people around when something like that happens. 99% of them would pretend like it didnt happen.

hero of the day

either way, down town is just dangerous for bikes, so much traffic and ppl everywhere, i don't see the point, might as well scoot

Good for you, I feel like most people would sissy out in that situation. What was the damage to the bike?

And what makes a scooter safer than a bike downtown?

OP, awesome job standing up for the absent bike owner!

Wish you were there Wed when someone ******* backed into my bike and took off with not a sole seeing it parked by a hospital

there was nothing because as i was yelling and he was backing in to it he stopped and moved forward, it just pushed it and it was about to fall over but he stopped in time. I dont know how it didnt fall over the kickstand was super strong i guess. Go Honda CBR engineers

I'm confused now lol. But either way good job!

this might be stupid question but : how come i see vespa's and scooters parked on sidewalk but motorcycles no...?

because the meter maid can't tell the difference between a scooter and an e-bike. But seriously since I'm from outside Toronto I asked the meter maid if it was ok to park my scooter on the sidewalk and if he was going to give me a ticket. He pointed to the bike stanchion as best spot but otherwise where my scooter is on the sidewalk is ok with him. Rule of thumb usually is if the scooter is tied down whether it be a shoelace or a locking cable it won't get ticketed.

selective enforcement.

I parked on the sidewalk a couple blocks from the Skydome yesterday because I couldn't find parking anywhere. I fully expected to see a ticket when I came out, but luckily I didn't have one. All the cars that were parked on the street had a ticket on their windshield.

Good job, OP. Nice to see someone that will actually say something! Nowhere is safe... Nowhere.

selective enforcement.

Good job OP. I hope you're around if it ever happens to my bike.

Now someone will probably chime in and say that bike's getting backed over is just part of riding in the city, like someone told me door dings are just part of driving in the city. Which it isn't. I've never dinged a car or backed into anyone's. It's called being careful and respectful of other people's property.
