Watch out for that heat!

All it takes is some hot weather and people turn into morons.... I had 3 close calls today, bringing the total to 3 close calls this season.

I was in a right turn lane, there was a younger girl in an old rusty pick up in the left lane that decided she changed her mind and tried to bolt into the turn lane as I was coming up behind her. I hit the brakes, she notices me and stops and I pass.

On the Gardiner a car tried to merge into me without so much as looking to his right, so I brake/change lanes/pass and no harm done.

I tell myself this isn't my day so I decide to cut my ride short and get some eggs from Costco before I go home. In the Costco parking lot I'm waiting for this woman to leave her spot, she pokes her head out the window with an annoyed look on her fat face and says she doesn't have enough room (she had way more than enough), so I apologize and start rolling back. At this point she decides she wants to make a point and reverses out of the spot pretty fast before I've had a chance to move until there was maybe less than a foot before she hits my bike, stops for for long enough for me to call her a derogatory name and then took off - and I thought she didn't have enough room?

Luckily the ride home was smooth.....but be careful in this heat, it makes people more aggressive.

It's not so much the heat, it's the stupidity.

Any kind of non-favourable weather conditions prove to cause people to drive/walk/ride like morons. The instant it rains a bit, or gets foggy, or a deer is walking in the woods 100' away, etc, people get distracted and panicked. It baffles me to no end, that the entire DVP or 401 will get backed up because a single car is pulled off on the shoulder and EVERYONE has to stop and rubberneck to check it out. I can understand maybe the closest lane slowing a bit because they're in close proximity... but it's as if everyone simultaneously goes full-retard.

I dont think its everyone rubbernecking, it takes a few people to start a chain reaction and because people follow too closely, there isn't time for anyone to adjust so its just a non stop wave of brake lights
