Hi,
ATTENTION: For those who park their motorcycles near the bicycle racks behind Realsport at 15 York St., the management is now ticketing motorcycles.
For the past couple of years, it's been possible for motorcycles to park near the bicycle racks behind the Realsport restaurant near the ACC and TELUS House. Apparently, those privileges are now curtailed. I parked my bike this afternoon at 12:30 in that area. There was one other bike, a Honda CB450, parked there as well. When I came back out after work, I had a $30 ticket attached to the bike. The Honda had a similar ticket. The ticket is issued by the City and not the local parking authority. It is a Code 3: "Parking on Private Property Without Consent of the Owner". There was no announcement by the facilities management to the tenants that ticketing of motorcycles was now going to be enforced.
It might be coincidence but this comes on the heals of the takeover of the parking facilities by Precise Parklink. It might be a maneuver to force all parking to use paid facilites. Too bad for us motorcyclists because there is absolutely no P-parking available in this area and this bike rack area was very popular.
