Want this as my beginner bike!

It's so good looking and only 50CC lol. Which means safe to ride, easy on insurance and gas. Question is, is this bike legal in Canada? I would love to buy one and just enjoy the ride even though it is slow.

Derbi GPR 50T

50cc 2-stroke I'm guessing? Target market is probably South Asia/UK

UK has a Horsepower limit for their licensing system. That's why small-engine bikes have that agressive SS look over there.

looks nice but I think a 125/250 would be more appropriate for our roads as a starter bike.

There are plenty of folks on LSMs that get by just fine riding city streets (50-60 or lower limit). A 50cc 2-stroke would probably easily do 60

My past cbr125 was one of the most fun bikes. Miss it dearly, hope some new small displacement sport bikes arrive soon :)

I thought 2-strokes run too dirty to pass the emission regulations over here?

I did recall this post from the "I Saw You" thread though.... so there is hope. The bike ended up being a Derbi GPR 50

Parked at work yesterday with an evo black beside me and a white Ducati. Anyone know what kind of Ducati the white one is? Never seen that before.

So I am assuming this bike is legal? Where do I find one? Also the yamaha r125 posted above is pretty nice. Yamaha also released R4 which is 250CC.

Id doubt very much it is a bike that has passed the Transport Canada regulations to be sold here hence that is why there are no dealers selling it. Even if you could find one and import it it probably is not stret legal in Canada.

When I worked at Cycle City in Burlington we used to sell the Derbi 50's well we sold two. If I remember correctly they retailed for $5500+taxes and all that other crap. They could hold 80km/h and were pretty fun to ride around town on. However I think the 2 stroke thing and the price point made them not all that popular.

I hear 50cc 2-strokes sound and smell like crap. Any truth to it?

If you're gonna spend 5500 on this bike you might as well buy a 125 or 250 .. They're still slow and good to learn on for about the same price .

Less actually. 5500 is closer to the new Ninja 300

yea $5500 is really too much for a 50cc bike. I dont mind a cbr 250r but it doesnt look sporty enough. Is there a 600cc fairing kit for these bikes? I do care about the looks but want to take it easy. Hence a 250cc.

I think that's all a matter of opinion. Personally there is nothing like the smell of two stroke smoke in the morning. I love the sound as well since its a higher pitch and they tend to rev much higher.
