VStrom mirror adjustment

Just got a 2012 DL650 and one of the mirrors was too far off to adjust with just the mirror end.

Long time since I have had handlebar mounted mirrors.

These seem to have two parts to put a wrenech on, I would assume that the top one locks it in place.

Both parts are too tight to loosen. they apear to be soft aluminium and I fear that I may crush them if I use vice grips. This would be my last resort as a wrench seems to just round off the edges. And being 4 hours new I do not want to damage things yet.

Any hints appreciated.

ps I see that I will need to updave my avatar.

If your turning it the right way, you may need a a better quality or better fitting wrench, vvise grips wil make it look like hell if it doesn't destroy the nut. A line wrench , that is like a box end with a slot cut in it might be your best bet. On b my KTM one the mirrors is a left hand thread , so make sure you are turning yrs the right way . They are set up so that if the mirror impacts something and is pushed back, it ,loosens and hs less chance of breaking off .

I was wondering about left hand thread.
You would think that it would say something in the useless owners manual.
It is the right hand mirror. that is the one that may have the reverse threads I would suspect.
The stem is a bit too thick for thaeline wrench that I have.

I use an adjustable wrench on mine, adjust it nice and tight and it won't round the edges. Also, mine are both RH thread (not a Suzuki though).
