Vstar 650 2nd opinion...

Hey GTA, I just picked up my Vstar 650. LOVE it!! I'm upgrading from a CBR 125, so the difference is quite large. I'm also not a gearhead and fairly new to the whole sport.

1) Pipes are crazy loud.. I like it, but I doubt anyone else on my block does. I found a few cheap baffle mods, once I get confident and weather warms up.

2) Front brakes. I'm used to a much smaller bike, so I would expect a difference in stopping distance. But I'm not sure how much to expect.

Is anyone with a bit of experience willing to take a look at my ride and give me their opinion on a few things? I'll be out and about Sat early afternoon around the east end/Beaches/Scarborough.

Also any tip on a bike mechanic in East end?

Its not a bad bike at all. Stopping will take more time and the turning will not be nearly as sharp.

Great bike. Congrats. Please post a pic in the VStar roll call thread!

I have a 2009 VStar 650 classic. It's a fun bike. I mod the sh%t out of it. If your driving lots of hiway on the stock exhaust/jets it has tons of vibration, I suggest doing these 2 mods. GAK (http://www.650ccnd.com/gak.htm) + Exhaust mods (either do the cheap drill 3 holes on your stock pipes or replace the pipes.) Don't forget to sync the carbs as well. Once you've done this the 650 will be night and day compared to the stock ones.

If you haven't visited the 650ccnd site yet, go here http://www.650ccnd.com You'll learn a lot about the VStar 650

if You are Interested in the Mod for drilling out your pipes, I have a set thats already done for sale.

Pm Me The Upper pipe has the 3-hole mod lower pipe has the Telmo
