new helmet technology, interesting concept.

Sittin here in the hotel with my room mate on our Advanced Paramedic Course.
Both think it's a great idea, but neither of us (both riders) would suspect it to come apart while we are on scene. With adrenaline flowing we would just end up doing the typical C-spine precautions and slowly take the helmet off... But the idea is great and would make that job way easier.

Scorpion helmets (and possibly others) have an inflatable bag in the top of them that we can inflate with the bulb of our BP cuffs, but something about pushing down on the top of the head where there is a possible skull fracture just doesn't make sense.

One of the reasons why I went with the Shoei X-12...

Quoted from Shoei's website:
E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick Release System)
Mechanical tabs disengage cheek pads for easy removal by emergency medical personnel. Helmet can be removed with minimum load to rider in emergency situations.

I was really surprised at how easy it was take off the helmet when I tried the EQRS when it was time to wash the interior.
There is also a sticker with instructions right above the red tabs making it clear/easier for paramedics to take off the helmet with very little pressure on the rider's head.

I didn't know that the X-12 did that. Something to look in to when I'm done with my X-11 :)

Thanks!
