has anyone installed a voltage meter on their bike. with my heated vest and heated grips along with the usb adapter installed on the fz6 i want to make sure i'm not discharging my system. i want to make sure if there is a problem i will find it and fix it before it strands me

anyone installed anything similar to this.

I would need something with all the electronics housed in the unit and nothing in the cigarette lighter since ii would cut the lighter plug off.

I have a Kuryakin voltmeter. Small yet bright.

any options to let me monitor the 12.6-12.8 while its off and teh 13.8+ voltage while running. kinda want something a bit more detailed than the Kuryakn even thou it seems to be the most durable.

I bought a similar one from www.aviciouscycle.com, then found a better one in England on ebay for half the price including shipping for my Bandit.

Both read well enough for me to trust that the battery is discharging, neutral charging or overcharging and they take up very little real estate on the bike.

On the KLR i made the mistake of wiring it in to the headlight circuit, whereas it should have come off the battery itself for a more accurate voltage reading.

It's mounted on the dash right hand side, the last "idiot light" in the row. This is with the key off, I've never had an issue with not being able to see the light or the colour during even the brightest sun.

I prefer digital display over analog. The needle sweep on most cheap analog gauges is too narrow and not graduated enough to provide anything other than a general idea of what's happening.

Depending on your available mounting spaces, one of these might work for you. Different styles, case colours and LED colours available, $14 to $26 shipped.

came out to $13 usd

ebay is so much easier. some guy on Kijiji wanted $20 for an analog meter with a dent on it.

I shouldn't have even replied.
