Video-game makers face scrutiny after Sandy Hook killings

 Same ol' BS. Sometimes I'd like to say to these clowns "how dare you use such a tragedy to further your crusade".
For the record, I'm not a gamer. I play 1 modern game and that's L4D2. I agree with setting age limits on certain games but banning them altogether is nonsense.

blaaaaaah..... many, many countries have these games and no mass murders... way to correlate, America

parents should spend more time being, you know, parents, rather than pointing the finger and laying blame on everyone but themselves

don't buy your kids games that "promote" violence if you're that freakin' concerned. Take an active role in your kid's life and teach them that a game is a game, and real life is something entirely different. And maybe, don't hand them their first firearm at age 10.

What psychologists are these? Every prof at my school along with every study I've read on the matter (several) all find either no correlation or a negative correlation.

I used to play Mortal Kombat & practice all the moves on my bro, I think i came out aight

We already went through this a decade ago with Columbine ... the link is even more tenuous in this case.

My god the witch hunt is in full swing!!

Whoever doesnt like something and has an agenda is raising the Sandy Hook flag and calling for a ban.....
Its actually good in a sense. The more overboard and far reaching they go, the crazier they will seem in the eyes of the regular joe blow.

I used to work at EB Games back in 2004-2006 as a summer job..... anything M rated had to have a parent/guardian there for purchase (not some random 18 year old). For things like GTA we would be checking IDs and limit one per adult/child combo.

I can't count the number of times I told parents "this is a violent, sexually offensive game...." for example... Conker's Bad Fur Day was re-released on Xbox a few years ago along the same time as GTA San Andreas "There's sex, partial nudity, drug consumption, alcohol abuse, violence, hookers and murder".

The parents just wanted to shut their kid up by buying it.... a week later they would come back for a return "Sorry, there's no return policy for games you found innapropriate for your child that you purchased yourself. You were there at the time of purchase and was warned about the game content".

Cant wait for the knee jerk reflexes. They want something to be done even tho it had nothing to do with the shooting

LOL the same games are sold around the world. You don't see mass murders like Sandy Hook around the world.

I just hope it doesn't come out that the kid liked motorcycles or god forbid owned one.

Dang... No wonder I'm twisted, I was shooting rifles and bows long before I was 10. Maybe responsible parents teach their kids about fire arms and how they are to be respected so those kids don't become over reacting adults who see guns as only harmful, soul less killing devices.
The majority of time spent with my dad was in the bush with some form of weapon in my hand, and I haven't shot anyone that I wasn't supposed to.
