I've recently acquired a Drift HD Stealth camera (thanks Rafiki for setting up the group buy). Just wondering which application/software people use to edit their clips, preferably one that have features such as fading and dubbing my own music over the wind noise. Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm sure there are free programs out there but I bought a g5 mac for 300$ and Dl'd Final Cut Pro 6. It doesn't get any better than FCP6, even though it's an old version. There's also Adobe Premiere but FCP is the ****.

For basic stuff windows movie maker does a good job. I make all my race videos with it and I'm getting better each time. It's also free and you already have it.

I used to use Premiere Elements but I found it real buggy. I discovered Sony Vegas 10 and been playing with it and love it.

The camera shoots H.264 encoded files, so you will not be able to do real frame by frame edits. You will be able to trim the clips, but not real edits you can apply to .dv format with a proper timecode. Just so you don't expect the world from this little camera ....

To trim clips you can use any of the hundreds of apps. Even a simple Quicktime will do ...

I got my work to pay for Adobe Premier....for my work obviously. But it works pretty good with my GoPro. I'm a technodumbass with most software like this but I got the basics OK.

This is the greatest software to use to get into video editing. It has a ton of features, 30 days free trial and if you look hard enough, you can find it for free.

I ended up buying the Vegas Movie Studio 10 HD. Tried a couple "free" versions of the aforementioned Vegas Pro and could never get it to install correctly and virus software was going nuts during install. Didn't want to risk screwing up the laptop, it was only $80ish and does all the basic/some advance stuff without a major learning curve as it has a full tutorial built in. Not to plug my track day compilation video but I used the movie studio 10 software to edit the following:

Keep in mind, I'm completely new at this editing thing and I'm sure someone who knew what they were doing could do alot better and use the software to its fullest. Were getting there...

Very good job. If that was the first time you edited anything together and you came up with that, I'm impressed.

You should download and watch the Lynda.com tutorial on Vegas Pro 6. The basics are the same.

Premiere is extremely powerful and awesome, but a few things in it are very difficult to do such as adding in text. At least the last version I worked with you had to create a transparent picture/text file and overlay it onto the video, rather than just click "add text" and start typing. This means no animated text either (as far as my tech savviness went anyways). but if you really wanted you could do the text portions in movie maker and import them, which is what I did but the resolutions will differ.

thanks all! ShiftyEh, that's a great looking clip. Is that GoPro you are using? I like the camera angle from the back of the bike (seeing your body and the road).
