My buddy and I were planning a bike trip for the past few months for the first week of February. We were gonna trailer our bikes (his trailer) down to South Carolina and then ride to the Florida Keys and back. Unfortunately, he is sick and the trip is cancelled. I, however, have already taken the time off work. I'm going to be free now for 5 days. I want to go somewhere and do something cool. Would LIKE to keep expenses under a grand but if the idea is worth it could see spending more. Thing is, I can't think of where I should go. So, who here wants to tell me where to go! haha. All kidding aside, any suggestions?

Learn to use google flights. You can get to Puerto Rico for around 300ish..all in (from the US).that leaves you 700 for accommodation and food.

A co-worker went to Iran.
They said it is a very cool place to visit and is nothing like what we see on the news here.

all inclusive in Cuba or Dominican Republic, get beach, drunk and possibly laid for under 1k.

all exclusive to cuba for 5 days. I went around this time 2 years ago for $525. So there would be a slight increase now.

eat, sleep, drink, sleep, eat, drink, drink, drink, eat, sleep.

Don't stay at Barcelo Solymar. Worst food in the world, everyone's from Toronto (more specifically, Brampton), etc.

I know that Cuba gets a bad rap for food...but we went to another resort by accident and their food was so much better. I'd still bring Siracha & ketchup just in case, though.

Just came back from a 4 night cruise to Bahamas and Florida for $750 all in. Might be more because i did double occupancy. After cruising I wouldn't go back all inclusive resorts unless it is a blockbuster deal. I find them too boring for me.

Taxes on top add another few hundred to those prices now. Not that many 5 day vacations available to AI resorts, WestJet does a few but they are to 5* mostly and cost a lot more than a grand.

All this right here, plus the food is unreal and never ending. be prepared though to pay for booze which will add up very quick

I'm a pretty experineced "cruiser" , booze and off ship excursions can really amp up the price. But you'll never experience better food.

In Cuba I'm partial to the Veredero strip, the food is very average, but the beach is beautiful and your close enough to Havana for side trip. I was at Holguin, its other side of the Island, found the beach was wanting.
All the DR resorts are similar, food is better than Cuba on average, we do these trips because they are stupid cheap in the big picture. Under a grand taxes in every time so far.

When I went to Cuba a few years ago, booze was very cheap. Like $4 for 26oz of rum. Just get all inclusive and ur set, they pour until you tell em to stop.

Jump on a plane and go to Lima, Peru. From there head out to Machu Picchu. You can do it in under a week. Stay in hostels and stay away from tour groups. ~$1500 inc. flight if you shop around. You'll see more, learn more and meet more interesting people than you would at an all incl.

Except it's a day to fly there...a day to fly back and the OP only has 5 days, that's a pretty expensive vacation per day. I want to go to Peru but I'll be taking 10 days minimum.
