Vacation Booking Advice

I want to get out of Canada for the holidays. The dates would be from the 17-21 give or take a few days.
I want to go somewhere hot.
I also want to keep costs down. All inclusive is a must. I have been playing with expedia, itravel2000, selloffvacations, hotwire, hotels.com etc etc.

What do you all suggest?

those dates are a *****. i wanted to do the same thing but noticed everything doubled in price near the holidays. ended up deciding on florida, still ridiculous price but quite abit less than all inclusive dominican republic, cuba etc...

the further you can get away from the holidays the better off you'd be, no brainer lol :D

Most AI are 7 days except for the really pricey ones which can come in 4-5day flavours. Watch out for taxes, pick a country with low taxes added on. DR is usually pricey with around 2-300 added on the top of the holiday. See if you can find a new destination as they are often cheaper as they try to get people in. I went to Cartagena last year in late November on AI for a steal.

You can get decent deals on flights if you're flexible...a single to Puerto Rico leaving today from Montreal was $198 taxes inc. You can book a hotel on expedia or locally if you feel a bit more adventurous. From the GTA look at flying from Buffalo to get the best deals, Pearson has ludicrous prices. Scan RFD for good flight deals and look at SellOff every day for last minute bookings. If you see something you like don't wait too long to book it at this time of the year. Sadly the dates you picked are holiday dates for all Universities and I'm guessing some schools too, still not as bad as over Xmas or New Year though.

Lastly, sign up for Chris Myden's flight deals to be posted to your e-mail. It's called YULDeals I think for Montreal...there's one for TO and one for Ottawa too. http://www.yyzdeals.com/ top deal there is a $298 roundtrip flight to San Francisco from TO with taxes included. I'm pretty sure that might be warm enough for you near there too.

I find when looking at expedia, travelocity et-al that the prices go up and down through the week, packages come up and drop in price. I have to be vigilant to get a really great price.
Also when the date is really close the package drops to prevent empty rooms at the resort. You may end up at your third choice but its warm and the rum is free. You also run the risk of not going anywhere.
Week before C'mas will be a tough slot to find a deal in.
