US shipping address redirection?

I have bought something on Ebay, seller is asking for US shipping address because I guess he just doesn't have the brain power required to ship to Canada. Anyways for whatever reason I need to have a US shipping address, to have this shipped to that will redirect it to me here....Ive read on here about UPS stores in the US doing this....I would really appreciate if anyone could explain the process and cost involved with having this done...Shipping from that seller within the US is free, so I dont mind paying to have it redirected.

Thanks

I've never heard of a redirection company, just those that will offer a mail box service for packages to be shipped to a US location and then they will hold it for you to pick up.

As far as an eBay seller not wanting to ship to Canada I believe it has something to do with what they feel is increased risk, that and the fact that using correct shipping to satisfy PayPal is overly costly.

Good luck finding a redirection company, my guess is that if any exist they will be cost prohibitive. Better to have it shipped to the border town nearest you and pick it up.

I have a BMW F800ST bike so anything I want comes from the US. To avoid the Duty/taxes of having it shipped to Ontario or in the case of some US vendors will only ship to the Lower US 48, I opened up an account with SCC Parcel Service in Port Huron. They will accept a parcel on my behalf at the cost of $5 (per month). All this took was an e-mail to them to set it up. When they receive a parcel they will e-mail me notifying me of the parcels arrival. I then schedule a trip across to the US to pick my parcel up.

When filling out the "Delivery Address" of any Buy order (e-bay, or On-line Store) I add "- SCC" to my name and for the address I put SCC's address. So it winds up as:

Malcolm Muggerage - SCC
2540 Lapeer Rd,
Port Huron Township, MI
48060

My example uses a Port Huron company because that is the closest to me. There are companies in Buffalo and Fort Erie that offer the same.

I buy hundreds of things per year from the US, 99% of people have no problem shipping to Canada. Some just don't want to deal with the export documents that need to be filled out, or some other BS....
Shipping cost should have nothing to do with it because as the buyer I pay all the shipping costs anyways, and I have no problem paying extra for the small inconvenience to them....Its simple you go the the same place you ship normally UPS, USPS, Fedex, its all the same, it just costs a little more and you have to fill in some simple info on the export doc for what the item is, where it originates from, its value, and reason for shipping (sale, gift, warranty, etc)...Simple as that, and I pay with Paypal so no matter what happens they get paid before I receive anything, I am the one taking the risk, not them....

Thanks for the suggestions but as you can see from what others have posted, there are places that redirect for a small fee.....Im not going to drive to the boarder for a $50 tool, id rather pay another $50 to have it redirected to my shop....

Here's a list of some of the ones out West. I used Package Express (based in Washington State) before with no problems to forward a parcel to me in Ontario. Prices were decent, free sign up and you'll get a US address, they e-mail you when the package has arrived and will let you know all the different tarrifs for forwarding when it arrives. You can get an accurate idea of what it will cost on their website. I should probably sign up with another one based in NY state or something to save a few bucks on delivery but the Package Express people were fine with their customer service and tracking.

So, yes, as you mentioned, no need to make a trip to the US, there are plenty of companies that will forward mail to you.

Thanks I'll check it out, I sent the seller a message asking if they would ship it to me if I pay extra for shipping and extra for their inconvenience.......If they dont want to do it I will try this place. It would be good to set this up for the future anyways as every once in a while I have the same problem with Ebay sellers, preventing me from buying things I cant find in Canada

That's the problem I had...lots of places do free shipping in the lower X states so shipping to the company is often free, the forwarding doesn't really cost much if you factor in the savings of shopping stateside. I will probably use these people to forward a helmet to me in the future as some helmets can only be shipped within the US when bought there. These companies are really good for getting around manufacturers shipping restrictions. I nearly had a hockey stick forwarded to me last month before I found a decent deal in Canada.

If it hasn't been said these guys will accept it in the USA, take it to their St. Cath location for either pickup or can re-ship it to ya:

I use em all the time, SUPER cheap rates to bring stuff across.

lol, nice :) You can 100 percent avoid the brokerage and service charges from UPS if you sign a clearance form in Mississauga. There's a thread on here about it (probably in the archives).

It may not be a redirect but it's only 5 minutes over the border at rainbow bridge
www.cbiusa.com (Signup is free)

Just be aware it is busy there are A LOT of Canadian's using it, but not so bad if you pick up during the week.
They store for 5.95USD per package.
