US phone SIM card

I'm going to the states soon and my current cellphone doesn't work in the states. It's one of those Pay-as-you-go Petro Canada phones.

After doing some research I think the T-Mobile SIM card at $6.99 and the $2 Prepaid - Pay By The Day (unlimited talk and text) is what I want.

Does anyone know of any better plans/SIM cards?

Also, is there anywhere in Canada that I can buy this SIM? I'm going to the states on Thursday which is Thanksgiving for them and everything will be closed. I also would rather not stand in line for 2 hours on Black Friday to buy a SIM card.

Thanks

I am using an AT&T GoPhone card (pay as you go, also with a $2 daily unlimited plan). It wprks on an unlocked Rpgers/Fido phone. Prepaing $100 will keep the number active for one year, and since recently, the phone/card can be used in Canada as well for $0.40/minute, which is the same price that Rogers is offering for their prepaid plan.

If you cannot source a SIM card until your departure, you can use mine, PM me for the details.

I got an h2o card that was valid for a month with unlimited national calls and a shed load of international minutes plus some data. Cost me 40ish to activate if I remember . Got it from eBay delivered to my hotel in the us within a week. The card plus delivery cost me about $5.
