US ITIN number

If this is an income tax number are you sure you need one? I do a fair bit of work for american based companies and get paid in $US and sign the foreign exemption/citizen form before submitting an invoice. You then claim the amount as extra income at tax time in Canada. On the foreign citizen form you are not obligated to put anything except your name and address, don't put the SIN down.

Apologies if I got the wrong end of the stick and this is not what you're looking for.
