Lookin at a US Bike,

guy says it has a lien on it and the "lien" office will release the lien immediately if paid in Cash... or 1 week if paying with cheque

i would pay the lien office...

anything to watch out for?

I did this when I sold my bike. Brought the buyer with me to the bank, he paid the lien off, I got the piece of paper from the bank stating as much and had them copy it for him. Helped that we did it all together so he could see the deal was transparent. I wouldn't do it remotely though.

2nd that. I sold my previous bike here and just met the buyer at my bank. Als bought my current ride in Florida and the guy had a lien on it, sent a deposit and met him with the rest of it in draft form. Went and paid it off and then to the DOT to transfer everything over and got a temp plate in his name at that so I wouldn't have to pay taxes. Worked out really well.
