Stuff shipped via UPS from Orillia on Friday, ETA for delivery is Tuesday.
I could have loaded it on a toboggan and walked it here faster than that.
Who do they think they are, Canada Post ???

Chances are good you will get the delivery early. UPS, like most carriers, offers several classes of service so they can prioritize the flow of goods through their network, On high-traffic days, 2-day shipments take 2 business days, and on most days 1.
They never hold goods to make customers wait -- they want the packages out of their hands as quickly as possible.
- fee to "represent you to customs" (which they run and do themselves in an office in their building)
- fee to calculate duty and/or taxes owed
- taxes and/or duty owed if any
- additional fee for collecting the fees from you (a.k.a. the fee-fee)

It was my Christmas present from my son. They showed up at the door with a bill, that my wife paid. She got gouged for shipping from Germany on her present to me, but the were no extra charges from Canada Post. Helmet I bought from the Netherlands came no shipping or extra charges via FedEx.

If I'm looking to buy something and I find an out of country vendor with it that uses UPS, I click <back> and continue my search for a vendor that doesn't. If It's a Canadian vendor and they ship via UPS I'll still try to find one that doesn't on account of my damaged in transit record with them.
Probably this. I had some clothing delivered from Marks Work Wearhouse and it was shipped out of Calgary or something like that, somewhere out west. Original shipping arrival date was next Wednesday, it arrived yesterday.
UPS's new system seems to be to under promise and then over deliver. Less upset customers this way, and to the contrary, probably a lot more happier customers actually when their order arrives "early".
I absolutely refuse to buy anything from outside Canada if UPS is the only shipping option, and really avoid them in general. I got ripped off for their $50 brokerage fee on something like a $20 item 20 years ago and have never used them since for international. Hope they enjoyed their $50.

My first $100 oil change almost two decades ago was well-priced oil filters and UPS bending me over for more than 100% of filter cost in brokerage extortion. Last time I used UPS. USPS or bust for American orders.
If I was desperate enough for something and UPS was the only option, I'd have them send it to my Shippsy address in Buffalo and have Shippsy handle the import instead just to ensure UPS doesn't get to hose me on that brokerage ever again.
