Upgrade to an FZ6 as my second motorcycle

Currently riding a Hyosung GT250R here in Korea and will sell when I get back to Canada in August. I've done a lot of research and think a 2007 or 2008 FZ6 would be a decent upgrade.

I checked out the insurance and it'll be about $2000 since I'll only have my M1 (never ridden in Canada). So no problem with insurance.

Any thoughts on this? FZ6 riders, are you happy with your bikes here in Ontario?

I'd like to purchase an aftermarket exhaust as well. I'm thinking Two Bros with the noise reduction tips. Anyone run this exhaust without the tips here? Trouble with the law?

FZ6 was my second bike. Loved it, great for street riding, insurance was cheap (for me).

Tons of torque, gets fast quickly, easy to work on without the fairing. The bike is heavier than the standard SS, but makes it nice and planted for highway rides.

Exhaust would be a b!tch as they're undertail, $1000ish each, thus I passed on that. The stock bike is quiet, kind of just whizzes when reving.

I got one as my first bike and I had no idea how great a bike I was getting. There are some downsides to the bike but I keep forgetting what they are (I guess love will do that to you!)

It's so versatile, I've done over 1000km in a day on it comfortably yet I've done also track days in fast company. It's a great bike to learn on with it's stable handling and modest low-rpm power, which also makes it great for the commute and for fuel efficiency. I got over 400km on a tank once, 350km is common. At the same time it's one of the highest powered bikes in the segment so it can be the bike you want it to be, depending on your mood at any given moment. Decent comfort for a passenger but I wouldn't go long distances 2 up. Also, it's OK in the gravel but you have to go slow because it's a bit too stiffly sprung for that purpose.

Plus it has a centre stand, fuel gauge, and of course the FI and undertail exhaust. I added heated grips, a GPS and side cases to mine and that's all I need.

Good insights; thanks very much.

Comfort is one of the reasons I'm not going with a SS. SS bikes are great for the track but uncomfortable for touring. The FZ6 seems to have an ideal mix of sport and comfort.

I'll definitely be putting heated grips and a GPS on mine. And still thinking about the exhaust.

I think anything is an up grade from a Hyosung.

Another votefor the fz6. Great bike it's comfortable on the highway but it's ready to play when I want to. Plus it's not so common I get lots of people asking what it is. I have the carbon 2 bros exhaust on mine. It was easy to install and has a great sound but it's not quiet. No problems with the law.

Another good thing I thought of with the FZ6 was the height of the seating position. You end up being taller than most cars which helps with line of vision on the road ahead when in traffic.
