Unlocking phone

There are usually places in your local mall. Those kiosks that cell cases and phone bling usually can do it.

Anyone know where I can unlock my iphone 4?

Bell wants $50 + tax, kijiji guys want $100-$200.

Seems a bit expensive, to unlock a phone that I own

Forget the kijiji guys. I just went through an incredible ordeal after Bell wouldn't unlock my phone as I switched to Rogers (long story - turns out I bought a phone that the original owner still owed $$ to Bell for).

After a LOT of searching, the guys in the kiosk's gave me a Gevey chip + new sim card. It fools the phone into thinking its with a different carrier.
Everything works fine except I can't send MMS (picture messages) - but I hear there is a fix for this.

Cost me $50 at square one.

Beware of fake Gevey Cards. They are low quality and you run the risk of overheating your phone. Do a search.

Thanks, called a couple but they do not unlock specifically Bell for some reason.

Yeah, I was looking into the Gevey cards but at $50 I may as well do it with Bell. Apparently Bell won't unlock your phone if you do not have a current account with them, lucky I'm still with them.

I'm sure you can find someone to do it on the cheap at Pacific Mall.

Thanks, forgot about this.

Google is how I unlocked 4 of my phones.... Usually costed me less than $5

Maybe I should run a business and charge 1000%

Your business would fail miserably because you don't even read the links you're posting lmao.
According to your google search, you need to jailbreak or pay a website $75+ to unlock.

Strange... Bell, by law is required to unlock the phone... I think they might be scamming you. Try again.

On Red Flag Deals, I had some nutter try and sell me a "factory" unlock for $150 USD. And he came highly recommended with over 1000+ thanks... not a single person recommended the Gevey chip..

The downside is, you can no longer update the phone or factory reset it. On the brighter side, the updates are no longer supported on the 4.

Yes, Bell are able to do it.

Any idea if 7.0.4/7.0.6 works well (no lag) with the iPhone 4?
I'm still on 5.0.1 lol.

I posted a link to a google search. Let me guess, you clicked on the first link (which is most probably paid for) you saw and said F it...?

Maybe if you actually did a bit of searching you would get what you want. Laziness doesn't pay off..

PS. Your statement doesnt really make sense.. "According to your google search, you need to jailbreak or pay a website $75+ to unlock" - Are you looking to jailbreak OR unlock? They are 2 very different services you're looking for.. Jailbreaking can be done for free - just do some searching around. The unlock codes usually need to be bought unless you want to spend hours searching and entering from a list of codes.

You need to PAY a couple bucks TO unlock your phone.

Steps to your success:
1. Search for a seemingly legit site with a decent price
2. Search for reviews (If you see like 30% negative reviews, just look for another site)
3. Make sure the payment is made through a secure site
4. Follow instructions provided to unlock

When I worked for Rogers, the unlock code was a click of a button away. Instructions to unlock are all online. Did I mention that getting the code is not tracked and it is free? Dependent on the IMEI of the phone. Therefore, my business would succeed given that I still have friends that work for Rogers that would be willing to do this for me (Only for Rogers phones tho) :P

Knowing this, if you know anyone that works for Bell and you have a relatively good relationship with them, just ask them for the code (assuming they know what they're doing and they run a similar system to Rogers/Fido/Chatr/etc..). This is how many unlocking services (with good prices) run. Have someone that works for Rogers and Bell to get you codes and you're set (at a small cost to them). Otherwise, they're just getting the codes online and charging you a few bucks more than what they pay.

I have used this site on 3 phones now. Everything worked 110% and easy.
http://www.cellunlocker.net/

Yep, I think I used this site a few years ago. Nowhere close to the $75+ OP is claiming it costs to do it online. Quick test - $16 for a Samsung Galaxy S4... I highly doubt an IPhone 4 is going to be much more... I think I did a Iphone 3 for less than $10 like 2 years back on this site.

Now... Back to "Your business will fail" comment...... :P

Do NOT for the life of you upgrade to iOS 7 on the iPhone 4. It is horribly slow.

4s, not so bad. It looks cool, but not worth the agony and you can't switch back.

You don't think the first thing I did was google the exact same thing?

I checked the links on google and the only way to unlock is either by jailbreaking (which I can't do) or paying a website $75+ to unlock.

If I knew someone that works at Bell, why would I be on here asking then?

Thanks, I'll update to 6.x then.

After I just said I have friends that still work at Rogers that would provide me with the codes?

I don't think you have done your fact checking entirely. Unlocking iPhones are different from unlocking those from Samsung, LG, etc.

Hence the high cost.

Das cause they need to get the codes from Apple :P

BTW Apple sucks ;)
