University Insurance ?

Is it possible for me to get a lower quote on insurance if I'm a university student ? OR have "some sort" of coverage from my university on vehicle insurance ??

(Feels like this is a weird question)

I saw somewere on this forum that someone mentioned theyr in University (YorkU) and it helped with the insurance coverage .

Does any of this make sense ?

I want to insure my 2008 Ninja 250, I have an M2 and a G license (been driving for 5+ years, clean driving record ) and I'm 25 years old .

Give state farm a call, they'll take care of you.

Be a university *graduate* will allow you to join a group insurance program with Meloche Monnex. Since you are still a student, I don't think you would qualify. State Farm offers a "Good Student Discount" that can reduce you rate by about 10% if you maintain a certain grade level in your program. I'm not sure if the State Farm discount applies to Motorcycle Insurance in addition to Auto Insurance. Given you profile, State Farm is probably your best bet anyway for motorcycle insurance.

YorkU student here, I still get the discount. They have separate categories for Alumni and current students.

Hmm.. I thought I had a clean driving record but I was mistaken ! Apparently I have 3 traffic convictions still under my name (2 speeding tickets and running an amber light).... Although I paid the tickets a year and a half ago they remain under my name / record for three years... So , State Farm can't insure someone with more than two tickets.

Damn.

I tried calling some other place called Marathon insurance but they're taking forever to get back to me.

Doesn't State Farm stop the Good Student Discount once you turn 25? I had the discount for years in my car insurance but lost it at age 25 even though I'm still in school...
Can you please clarify that, if yes I need to give them a call

For the OP I've never seen any discount on my bike insurance while in school, I've called multiple Insurance companies while in school but no luck with any discounts

Give TD Meloche Monnex a shot. I'm a third year undergrad at UofT, and I get a discount with them. 09 250, same clean driving record.... at 21, I'm paying 1300

I called them up and they gave me a quote for around 2,100 bux. Pretty steep, just because I apparently have 3 traffic tickets from 2010 ....

a pretty good quote for your first season, given your situation

Im with state farm, student at UTM, 22 year old, 5year+ diving experience, im getting full coverage for 900/y (2009 ninja 250)
they gave me some kind of student discount.

Yeah those tickets are going to kill you. I have a rolling stop ticket from 2 1/2 years ago that if I didn't have I could have insured my bike AND car for what I am paying for only my bike now.

So I am paying double for my bike vs what I would have been paying without the ticket.

Damn those tickets, by the time they expire from my driving record it will be 2013/14 ... don't want to wait, gonna have to bite the bullet on this.

Is there anyway I can get those tickets removed from my driving record permanently ? (They have already been paid , just want them to disappear "faster")

How the heck did you get such a quote... I'm 20 with the same bike MM wanted 2700 paired with my sky high 4000/yr for a car and apartment insurance. + I'm a girl (i thought i'd be cheaper)
