I bought myself an UltimateSeat for my 1300 vstar Deluxe (3-piece set...I already had a stock backrest from Yamaha) and so far, I'm very happy with the purchase and here's why:
1) I was able to sit on it BEFORE I bought it. I went to their offices at 31 Klondike Drive and Len helped me out a great deal. Not only was I able to sit on a sample seat, but they also happened to have a seat in stock and helped me install the seat right then and there! I didn't have any tools, but Len took the time to make sure everything was cool on my side of things.
2) They ship your old/stock seat right back to you.
3) The backrest has an angle pivot point (kinda like the Mustang Seat) for the padding instead of just being a straight up backrest.
4) I haven't had the chance to take it on a long ride, but the driver's seat itself is quite comfortable. UltimateSeats has a 14-day return policy and haven't felt the need to return it whatsoever.
5) The seat does raise you a little bit more from the stock. I'm 5'6 but still feel very secure sitting on the bike at a red light.
6) The seat cannot be exposed to water and Len was kind enough to throw them in our deal. Thing is, they seem rather flimsy, and on more than one occasions water seeped through the seat after a bad storm.
I suppose the true test of ANYTHING is whether or not you would recommend the item in question to others? Yes, yes I would!
