UK News: Motorcyclist Films own death with Helmet cam

Talk about harsh punishment!
 
In hindsight the rider coulda this, coulda that, coulda something.

Youtube videos are hard to judge because the camera focal length distorts distance. It looks like he had some distance to change the outcome but I have trouble estimating the speed and distance without reference points.

I see the time line as:

Car comes into view: 0:43

Could be rolling stop: 0:45

Running the sign: 0:48

Impact: 0:50

The freeze frame with the red circle blurs the timing but 2 - 3 seconds isn't stopping time at highway speeds.

RIP Rider.

Driver in a similar UK incident 2-3 years back (also caught on GoPro) received the exact same sentence; and the rider there was going 90 in a 60 I believe.

what penalties do people here get? $150 fine or something? I can't remember

This is harsh punishment for causing someone's death due to stupidity? wow

Jail time would be more fit.
