Uhaul Snowmobiles

Have a couple of snowmobiles to move this weekend with a bunch of tote boxes so I'm aiming to do it all in one trip. Wondering if the floor of a Uhaul 26 foot truck would not get messed up by the sleds and if there are tie down loops inside the truck? I don't want to mark up their trucks floor and get a bill. Sleds can be destructive with carbides and studs. Is it doable?

Use those sled roller / dollie do-hickeys.
I have the dollies, but obviously can't have the sleds sitting on them while the truck is moving or they'll start dancing the tango. Putting carbides and studded track on wood would be the only option to protect the floor of the truck. I'm just wondering if there are tie down loops for equipment this heavy. These rental companies go looking for damages...and I don't want to end up with a bill a couple of months down the road.

Do they have floor anchors at all or just rails on the wall for straps? I thought the trucks were smooth floor. I don't know if the trailers come with floor anchors.

In the past when we needed to secure sleds in a crap situation, we slid 2x4's through the ski handles and through the track and then tied off the 2x4's. That gave us more flexibility with strap placement/direction.

if the 26ft cube has a wood floor (90% do) , yes the studs will absolutley spin on the wood and gouge it . forward and reverse the clutch will engage and you'll get track spin with studs on a wood floor.

sadly 2 sheets of thin plywood to throw down will add $100 to your move. U haul trailer an option?

Can 2X6's be clamped to the skis by some bracket arrangements.

So often I've seen the retread alligators on the road and thought "Those could come in handy someday"

Would a couple of used wooden pallets help. Craigslist or Kijiji free stuff. Wedge them in place as a second floor.

Just throwing out wild cards.

How touchy are they with damages? We used to nail a cleat to the floor to brace windows for shipping. Will a few nail or screw holes be noticed?

Some people apparently pull out some of the bolts holding the floor down and replace with eye bolts they can use as anchors. Reverse before returning.

Have any retired tracks kicking around? Cut one in half and place it studs up to protect the floor.

Grab some of the shipping blankets and run the sleds over top of them.

Might have to reposition a couple of times

Excellent suggestion everyone. Thank you...I decided to abort the mission and get proper equipment. The studded track and carbides are just too destructive. These truck rental companies go hunting for damage and it's just not worth the risk. Thank you again.
