Two thumbs up for Otterbox...

I was given a Defender case after my cousin upgraded from the Galaxy S2 to the S3. Its a couple years old and a few days I broke off a little piece of plastic where the the two shell pieces clip into each other, but since there's about 6 of them and silicon cover slips over its not that big of a deal and its still just as protective and useable. I still thought I'd contact them and see what's up.

The whole warranty process is painless and done online, at no point do they ask you for a receipt, just the date of purchase (which I had to make up because I have no clue) and a few pictures of the case and the damage. A day later I got an e-mail that a new one is on the way. That's what I call customer service and standing behind your product...

A brand new $60 case, no questions asked and you don't have to send back the broken one, it doesn't get any better than that.

I have an otterbox on my galaxy s2 as well.

It's bulky, but pretty much indestructable!

I have no clue how yours broke.

Alas, it's still good to know that their customer service is top notch.

Go Otterbox!

They replaced my case for my old S2 as well. Excellent company, excellent product.

well the case overall is still fine, its a little 1 mm (if not smaller) piece of plastic on the clips that snap together that broke off. I was probably a little rough and careless when I was opening or closing it. Other than that, yea its pretty much indestructible.

I've broken every single one I've owned at least once, always got a replacement. They have my info on file lol. The iPhone ones in particular break easy

I just submitted a warranty claim for my LifeProof iPhone case and hoping it goes as smoothly as your experience with Otter. How do you like the dimensions of the Otter btw? One of the things delaying my switch to the Galaxy S3 is that LifeProof doesn't have a case for it yet.

The Commuter on the GS3 makes it noticeably thicker, but not at all unpleasant (big hands) and I think this one may be the only one I don't break. It's very well built

The Defender makes it a brick

I have had two lifeproof cases replaced. The first one was for staining on the case and the second one was for one of the corners cracking. I have a US address and they were both there within 2-3 days.

To the OP I agree Otterbox also has great customer service as well. People only see the initial cost with this cases. I don't mind spending a little extra to have support like LP and OB provide.

I'm using a defender on my phone - yes it's a bit bulky but my phone has been banged around over the years and still ticking. Haven't had to put in a warranty claim yet.

Don't know how you people can stand so much plastic in Defender, so went with Commuter for my iPhone.

It's bulky but my phone is liable to take a pounding, so I sacrifice a bit of convenience for a lot more protection.

The Commuter is fine for your average joe with very good protection and of course it makes it thicker, but these new phones are so big but super thin that they feel very fragile on their own...

The Defender is for outdoorsy or tradesmen type who are going to be in extra rough environments. It makes it about as thick as a GameBoy pocket if you guys remember those. I personally like it because it makes it more ergonomic if you use it for more than 10-15 minutes.
If I surf the web or play games without the case my hands get cramped. Its also survived a fall off my bike at 80ish km/h with 0 damage when I didn't securely click it into the belt holster. The extra heft for the protection is definitely worth it. It feels so solid if you threw it at someone I'm pretty sure you could knock em out or at least stun them...

Thanks guys I'll give Otter some consideration.

I use the Defender at work, clips right onto my duty belt/vest no problems. But the Commuter as you said is better for everyday use since the silicone is only sticking out on the corners, when I put the Defender in my pants pocket it's an ordeal to get in and out
