you are not a grown man who plays with toys , you are a "hobbyist"

That's an odd ball rare bike, congrats.

Which one did you get first?

Way back when my buddy bought a lovely CB750 model until he could afford the real thing

I got the real thing first, then went hunting for the little brother, I find having the model would just be a tease unless you have the big boy to really rip.

I got the 1:1 scale early October, love the boxer engine and balance of it. Always wanted this BMW R1200c Cruiser ever since it was debuted in James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies, but was always out of reach finance wise. Then I stumbled across one that was neglected and needed some work, the owner did not know how to work on bikes and had no interest, wanted it out as he realized the cost of the BMW Stealer prices, so that worked out great for me, I picked her up less than 3K and it only has 20k KM on it, current value is over 7K as they're getting more rare, only a handful on sale all of Ontario. This one is over 17 yrs old.

The classic beemers hold their value well, you would still pay upwards of 3k for a decent 70's boxer depending on condition.

The 1:6 scale is a model made by New Ray grabbed it off e-bay BNIB, that's really rare to come by also as they've stopped making them as well. You may find them time to time on e-bay or Amazon.

Love the straight non-paralever swing arm. Very rare for a modern BMW. At one time BMW touted the R1200C as their best selling model because it wasn't. Sometimes that works.

Ya can believe, that, as why would you stop producing the your best selling bike.... I think BMW jumped into the cruiser market prematurely for that time, I think if they come back out now they would make a killing, with bike culture now and appreciation of vintage and different bikes. At that time people only believed in HD and Jap bikes for SS.

The boxer is a dream to ride, but has it's demons as most bikes and bikers do  I also gotta Honda VTXc 1300 witch is a different animal, Both are a pleasure to ride as they are very different I call one Cheetah and the other a Rhino,...

This model failed due to a motor that was weaker than the Harleys of the day, which was pretty weak.

It's definitely aged well... I still remember the goofy James Bond placement

I don't find the motor weak at all, I have a VTX 1300 with aftermarket exhaust and intake, and when I jump from one bike to the other I don't find the boxer weaker, actually the low end torque is much better than the 1300 VTX. Remember this is a 1200cc bike. I've ridden 1800 VTX also and yes compared to them even my 1300 is weak, but I'm not a fan over over 1500cc, you loose a lot of flexibility with the weight gain and top heavy engines.

I just think the world was not ready for this totally different take on a cruiser. The thing with this look is you either like it or don't. The Germans did a totally different look to a cruiser at a time when either it was HD and imitation Japanese only.
