So just charged up my battery again for the nice weather today, put it in and bike turned over and now clicks only? I'm hoping it's the battery as its from 2004- any insights? I know in a car the battery or the solenoid would be the culprit - same in a bike?

I ordered a new battery this one seems to charge in less than an hour now when before it was at least 4 hours. I'm hoping it isn't another problem, but it started a month ago. it's in heated underground and stored properly, so I'm hoping its the battery

2004? That thing is on its fourth life by now. Time for a new battery. Or pop it open and check the electrolyte, if it's low add water and recharge.

yeah 2004 is the date on it! I'll wait for my new one to arrive from flying squirrel. I don't think opening up a sealed battery in my condo is good idea!

I know its an obvious question but your cables might be lose, try screwing them properly to the battery

Stop guessing take a simple electrical tester and test the battery voltage...If its holding the charge then trouble shoot from there, if not get a new battery...

Sounds like a battery to me, I would simply test it and move from there

Excellent point. My battery died, and when I got to it, I noticed right away that the positive cable was lose! And the previous owner was a mechanic... !? Or he called himself a mechanic...

I charged it yesterday morning and went for a spin in the afternoon.

A 2004 battery most likely needs to be replaced, but not necessarily. I had my 2002 Sv650 with the original battery until last year (2012).

If you have a tender with multiple voltages make sure its set to 12V, I had one on a battery tender Jr for a long time, almost bought a new battery and realized the switch was set to 6V.

car battery boost :D

It WAS THE BATTERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woohoo- no carb syncs, no detective work, no big bills! I put in the new shorai and she fired right up!
