trying to rent or borrow a bike for my M1 exit test

Hello all! I am new to this forum, it seems like a great place to share stories, knowledge and all things wonderful about bikes. I am in a bit of a pickle and am hoping someone here has advice.

As we all know, insurance companies are ruthless in their pursuit of profits, and motorcyclists seem to contribute a lot to these profits. I let my M2 expire just under 2 years ago because I didn't own a bike to take the M2 exit test and I couldn't take it through the motorcycle drivers training class that I took. I now have my M1 again, my brother is selling me his 1993 Enfield 350 for only $1000 and I can insure it for $1200 (no fire, no theft, just basic coverage) My premium drops to approx. $650f I wait until I get my M license before insuring the bike. Therefore I'd prefer to rent or borrow a bike for my M1 and M2 exit tests before I insure the bike. I can't find anywhere to rent a bike that will lt me use it for my test. Borrowing is out of the question because everyone I know who has a bike has a chopper or 1500+ cc bike. I wouldn't feel comfortable using a bike that large and awkward for a test.

P.S. One bit of good news,
Because I previously held my M2, I am able to take my M1 exit ASAP, and my M2 exit test as soon as I pass my M1 exit test! I am not subjected to the long waiting period between license classifications.

A lady rents 250's out of her garage in Scarborough (super sketchy but lots have used her). Check kijiji or craigslist. Some examiners may ask to see insurance/ownership, if that happens, make sure you "borrowed" the bike from a friend as renting would invalidate insurance and you'd be walking home. Alternatively GTA Exotics rents bikes but they aren't cheap (but at least you would have a legal vehicle for the test), typically they don't rent to people without their M2 (or M?) but maybe if you explain the situation, they can do something (ie. skills test in parking lot).

Talk to your insurance company, maybe you can sign up for $1200 insurance and update your policy when your license classification changes. Does your brother still have insurance on it? Doing something with the bike you have access to is probably the easiest way forward.

Welcome!!

Sure you can borrow my bike for your test.

I just have a gas surcharge of$2600, and afterwards the bike is yours to keep.

Deal?
