So he wants a secondary sportier bike than his current.

We have narrowed it down to the naked sport bike, sport tourer category

have seen the following in person, (minus the 2012 tuono)

2012 z1000 - he doesnt want a kawi (for what reason i dont know...)
2011 Aprilia Tuono - the dealer said they are more expensive than the 2012...and to buy a 2012...new design or something?
2012 aprilia tuono - see above

Ducati streetfighter cant remember year, but whatever. Its very expensive in comparison to even the aprilia, wtf?

First, any other suggestions?

Second, we can only find that one dealer in vaughan who even have any for sale. 2011's at that.
Is the 2012 not here yet?

nothing newer than 1 single 2007 on kijiji ontario.

Any suggestions on sourcing?

Would you rather the v twin 2011 or the rsv4 motor for 2012? (he prob wouldnt notice a diffy, aside from sound)

thank you

in b4 shaman

if money is not an issue, I would get the v4 version just because it's different than a twin. I have read the new z1k has somewhat of a soft suspension. Both have pretty bad mpg if he wants to tour. the v2 will have better mpg.

Go to Apex in Waterloo...
They've got a done up Streetfighter (tons of carbon, termignoni system etc) with low kms (4-5000 km iirc) for $14000, again, IIRC.

MV Agusta brutale? I saw some the other day in Ottawa along with 4 F4s, one a beautiful white RR.

does the bmw f800/r1200 stack up to these bikes? or diff class dont bother?

They just dont seem to have the visual wow factor the italians do...

The K1300R would be cool but the bike is basically a naked version of the K1300S so it's quite a bit heavier than the bikes you mentioned....still cool:

Also, not really in the same "exotic" class as the Duc or MV but what about the Speed Triple?

Try GP Bikes, I think they still have some base (non S) models 2010/2011 Ducati Streetfighters left over, and the prices were pretty good last time I was there.

that duc at Apex is perfect...except they sold the pipes and arent willing to drop the price much.
but has pazzo, carbon fibre all over, case covers, etc.

but in contrast, GP has the same duc's no mods a 0 kms for 18 grand?!?! jebuz

any issues on a duc with 4k on it? 2010 streetfighter...1098 motor

this and the gt1000 model have had issues with the plastic fuel tank and ethanol. The only gas that doesn't have eth is currently petro's 94. The other solution is to bug Duc to give you a replacement tank or send it in for coating. I think the tank is around 2g's if you're not under warranty. There were some really nice sf's on kijiji... almost pulled the trigger.
Sexiest naked imo.

MCN had a recent comparison of some nakeds. the v4 won.. speed triple second .. I think sf was third.

There are many 91 octane fuels that are without ethanol; Shell V-Power to name the one I most commonly use. The issue with the plastic tanks and ethanol only comes up if the bike is stored for a while with the ethanol laced fuel in the tank. You do have to be careful when not riding often but it's not a big deal through the riding season. My SuperDuke's tank is made by the same company as the StreetFighter's.

Vrus I read last week they are introducing a 1200 KTM Superduke in Europe next year! Ouch

WOW 1200...insane. But i think the current engine in R config is ideal...1200 is alot heavier im sure.

the superduke has been a dream bike for me. Cant believe i forgot to add that to the list.

so i introduced him to that and the triumph...both very very nice. Also easier on the pocket than a Duc duc.
we shall see

I got to try the Brutale last summer at a demo at Mosport.....such a sweet bike.

I got messed up in the gearbox coming out of the hairpin . Was probably in 4th gear by this time but just gave 'er throttle. Pulled right along with everyone else coming out of the corner in the PROPER gear. lol I know most bikes can outride the rider but this one shamed me!

MV would get my vote

really? I think it looks fine. Have you seen the superduke?? Imo, I think in both bikes, should be easy to replace.

Can't imagine the 1200 duke...that's gonna be silly!

But getting into those prices, like MV's I think is 18k or something... that's 1199 territory.. well close to it. Imo to me if I'm spending that much, the bike better do much more than just look cute!

^ best looking, sounding, and performing sport-naked available in Canada by far
