Trying to buy local, why do they make it so hard

My son requires some new goalie equipment this year, so I have been doing some looking to find the right gear, right price.

So today we go up to the store I found some gear on ready to buy. They have different prices then the website. So we ask what's up?

The pieces of equipment are about $100 each more then the website and we are told "oh, that's becasue that is the US site, but they are a different company, nothing to do with us" So different company, but the same website, same name and "No, they wont price match"

So difference is several hundred $'s savings to buy from the US store and the equipment is made in Canada.

Needless to say, I am shopping online tonight. Would I prefer to buy here, sure, but not when this store makes me feel like they misrepresent things.

Did you run a quick kijiji search? There may be more smaller stores selling the same items new for cheaper. I've found that to be the case when buying electronics. Someone's always looking to cut margins and move inventory quicker.

Ted - Get in touch with "pete325is" on this site for more info.

If you want pro level gear without pro level pricing. Donsimmons.com in Ft. Erie.

I buy all my stuff there. Save hundreds and its the exact same as the pro stuff without the pro name.
Pm me if you want more details. I go there often :)

Well versed in Simmons, we have bouight some equipment for our son there before.
agreed, good equipment.

I have no issue paying for good gear, but i do get frustrated when they misrepresent pricing on the website.

I go to the site, it asks me to pick a location , so i select Hamilton, look at options and pricing and when in the store they tell me it is a different company...

I was going to write that it is your fault for not ensuring that you were viewing the canadian site until you wrote this.

That is bunk!

I saw a piece on Marketplace.
They call this Canadian pricing or market pricing.
Yes our dollar is on par and has been for a while but the pricing is not close at all.
The retailers said we will charge as long as they are paying.
Meaning, screw them over and just say it's market pricing.
uhm, WE are the market ppl.

Do what you have to do to save your money because the other side can care less about any ethical side of the dollar.
It's a global economy, so they keep saying :)

One of the biggest scams is/was Bombardier and the snowmobiles.
We the tax payers have bailed them out, yet if you lived right across the street from Bombardier, they will not provide warranty coverage for their product that you bought in Buffalo for thousands cheaper.

What website are you visiting ?

+1 Don Simmons.
Also Viper makes some good gear http://www.viperhockey.net/
Most kids are going to want the big name gear though although some of it is garbage.
The Goalie Crease on Yonge St in Richmond Hill will always give a good price especially if you go in and put a package together.
And Kijiji can also be your best friend!
