Looking to move about 60kms ; Uhual says $39 for 17" or 20" Truck + 0.69 KM.

If I pick it up at Location A and Drop it off Location B - they want $147 with 48km of use.

If I pick up drop off Location A - its $121.8 with 120kms of usage

Anything cheaper? or any pointers??

Every time I have dealt with U-haul for a A - B and drop off at B I don't remember them charging me extra for that?

do you have a vehicle that has can pull a trailer ? why don't you just rent one of there trailers and get it done cheaper ? i think the uhaul trailers are unlimited miles

Yes , I do have a SUV that can pull a trailer, I think I can pull up to 2000LBS with no issues. I move a bike trailer around, trailer is 300LBS + two bikes 1000LBS....all the time with no issues.

Trailer rental is like $30...and its only 6 x 12" http://www.uhaul.com/reservations/RatesTrailers.aspx

Consider looking into rental places like Budget, Avis, Discount, etc.

I rented a Discount truck years ago when I moved. I had to pick up and drop off the same day, and I had to provide my own belts, and blankets, etc, (note: u-haul has these readily available for extra) but I'm pretty sure I paid less than $100.

hope this helps

If you are planning a move, you can't beat Penske rates. For a regular cube truck it's $80 + .29/km. They also offer CAA discount of 12%. If you rent on a Friday or Saturday they'll usually let you keep the truck on Sunday for free as long as you return it early monday morning. Hope it helps.

trailers are great for smaller stuff, but when u think of how many times you are gonna have to make that trip back and fourth vs renting a 20' truck and doing it once, sit there and calculate the time and $$ spent on multiple trips.

when i moved i was just gonna use my trailer...i mean i lived in a one bedroom basement apartment, how bad could it be? luckily my buddy said screw it and rented a 26' truck (we wanted a 20' but they didnt have one so they upgraded us for the same price). LOL we basically filled up the 26'er...mind you it wasnt packed to the roof but i was shocked by how much crap you accumulate.

exactly, we moved out of a 2bedroom apt and filled a 4 bedroom house with 3 times the square footage...

Moving is a good time to get rid of extra stuff you dont need anymore. I have been using this time to get rid of extra stuff before I move.

DID NOT know about the CAA discount on Penske!....they'r the best on rates so far.

$80 + 120kms $ 35 = $115 + GAS! ....DONE!

i totally agree!

I have a 4 x 8 flat trailer, I can fit two couches on it at most.

BIG STUFF: TWO COUCHES + TWO CLOSETS + TWO MATTERESSES + DINING ROOM TABLE + MISC...thats 8+ trips moving the big stuff, thats about $80 in gas right there.

I think big truck , and one trip is the way to go.
