Trip through Europe - need insurance

I have been offered a chance to ride through Europe (Germany, France, maybe Spain through Morocco) with a group of friends. One has a 996 Ducati that he has offered to me to ride as long as I can provide my own insurance for the trip.

Does anyone know how to go about this?

Can I insure it through an Ontario policy or do I have to find a German insurer where the bike is registered?

You'll need something called Green Card Insurance in Europe.

There are a few companies that do this, we used Motorcycle Express (http://www.motorcycleexpress.com/). However, the problem you are going to run into is that a) some companies don't insure sportbikes - Motorcycle Express doesn't - and b) most, if not all of them, require you to actually own the vehicle you are insuring.

Best to call them and find out for yourself. Also try this German company, ADAC. There's a phone number in the middle of their English page: http://www.adac.de/mitgliedschaft/adac_membership/default.aspx

and this company: http://www.knopftours.com/Web-Site/Green Card.html
