Trip suggestions

How far each day do you think you could handle?
Are you hoteling or camping?

I did an awesome run out to Utah/Colorado and back in 8 days, but those were some long days. A couple extra days would have been nice.

Tail of the Dragon :D

Take the Blue ridge parkway down, then spend a few days riding around Deals Gap, then back up the Parkway.

Three days down, two back and fun fun fun! Don't focus on the Dragon, have a look at all the incredible roads around it like the Cherhola.

Or,

East Coast to Cabot trail via the US.

Google maps set to terrain and look for mountains, rivers and ocean to ride along and through. :D

I'm a big fan of New Hampshire. Amazing riding in the White Mountains. Great scenary, very little traffic, helmets optional (seatbelts in cars optional too), and you can get there via the Adriondac region of New York and upstate Vermont and continue on to the coast of Maine and still make it home in time easily.

I agree... Nice roads in the mountains and close to home. Did it last year (4 day trip) and doing it again this year.

Any cool routes I could do with alot of riding along the coast?

There is the Gaspe penninsula, then across New Brunswick to PEI, from there Nova Scotia to Cabot trail, to Halifax, Bay of Fundy, coast of Maine Route 1 to Bar Harbor, then route 2 to Lake Placid through new hampshire and vermont.

That will keep you and your camera busy. :D

Are you really along the coast in Gaspe?? GF and I are doing van trip starting next week and that's an option.

You got a specific map for that - we want to do that loop - just add Cape Breton and we are staying in Annapolis Valley for a week.

Sorta, I have the map I've been playing with for a trip out East to visit my sister on Prince Edward Island, and lots of blog entries with maps, photos etc to show the routes I've taken over the years.

A rough Garmin GPS outline of the trip, I call it version 1: http://www.box.com/s/y00164iym15emzu53nb6 I can convert this to GPX format if you want. The tracks are correct, the routes are Garmin adventures between waypoints. :p

The Google Maps version, but some of the roads between the waypoints aren't perfect. Force them to follow coastal roads and you have the idea.

And the overview map:

This trip looks awesome, lots of riding along the water, I think in gonna go with it

The google map shows the return route through Fredericton, I'd ignore that and go through St. John and on to Calais/St. Stephen for the border crossing and take US Route 9 over to Bangor, then head to Bar Harbor from there (44 miles East). Crossing into New Hampshire I routed it through Hurricane Mountain Road (wicked!), then the Kancamangus Highway towards Vermont. Think Stowe Vermont for some great mountain riding through that ski area, then on over to Lake Placid, but don't overnight in Placid, as it's pretty expensive, so try Saranac or truck on through.

Did the Cabot Trail last year. Make sure you do it counter clockwise. Its def a trip I tell everyone they must do at some point.

And Ron rocks with the trip planning.

Thanks Cat, although once in a while I go off on an unplanned adventure. ;)
