So mostly out of proximity since I live in Port Dover, I gave the guys at McKee Powersports a call in Delhi, Ontario to discuss some parts I need for my 86 FZ600 rebuild. After giving him a parts list on the phone I asked him if he could measure my cylinders as well if I brought them in to be sure I was getting the correct rings. He said sure bring it on in and leave it with him and he'll take care of it.
So I went by the next day with my laundry list of parts and started listing off.... Trevor suggested I get a couple other pieces and replace them while I was in there (cheap rubber grommets and o-rings, stuff that should definitely be done!) - considering this is my first engine rebuild ever, I really appreciated the fact he cared enough to mention that and didn't just want to make a quick buck and get me out the door.
After looking around at all of the gear I still want/need to buy (lol).... I left my cylinders and pistons and came home... now, in the meantime between my parts being ordered and me picking them up, I ended up grabbing a couple of parts engines, and stealing a lot of good parts from that, like the cylinders, pistons, and head .....SO, that means the rings he sized and ordered for me I now don't need! I called him back as soon as I knew this but he already had the rings in, and since they were custom ordered there's a 25% restocking fee - it was my fault for ordering them so I had no problem paying it. But get this....he didn't even charge the restocking fee anyway!! I did end up spending about $300 in parts but I thought it was pretty nice of them to not charge that restocking fee!
Anyway, the helpfulness, speed (only took a week for all my parts, and some had to come direct from the Japanese warehouse), and overall friendly attitude made me a happy customer who will definitely give them repeat business.
Might as well mention that on top of the parts they can get you....they also have a nice selection of gear at decent prices and some reallllly nice bikes....every time I go there I drool over the bikes.
So that's my honest review of a local Yamaha/Kawasaki dealership, sure is nice writing a nice review about someone and not just posting to complain about bad service!
