Hi Im trying to remove the dust cap in order to repack the bearings on my trailer....the dust cap is crazy stuck, and the flathead screw driver wont wedge out the dust cap....looking for alternative techniques or tools that will remove the dust cap.

channel lock pliers...grip it from top and bottom, then wiggle it while pulling cap off....try not to bend the crap outta the cap or it won't fit back in.

I've used a dead blow hammer to hit it from the sides to wiggle it loose. If all else fails, I hammer a screw driver through it to use a a lever and then put a new one on after.

Have you tried screw driver + hammer and hammering it out at an angle?

you can buy the dust cap remover tool at most any trailer shop or princess auto and do it in 3 seconds without beating or bending it for $9.99........

if the only tool in your box is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

How can you not remove it with a hammer & flat screw driver?

Get an old knife and wedge it in first?
