Trailer transfer of ownership, is bill of sale needed

bought a trailer which has a vin # , have ownership , do I need a bill of sale for ownership transfer
trailer cost me nothing

You traded it for a beer.
See if that flies.
Since a trailer is something that doesn't require insurance, the MTO doesn't really give a flying **** about utility trailers.
Take the plate portion, and get it swapped into your name, get new ownership with plate, and the plate is good for life (your life, not mine).
The cost is minimal.
 
They give a flying ### about utility trailers because they are taxable. When you transfer a trailer they will want a bill of sale to charge you the appropriate tax, if you claim you " home built " it they will want you to estimate what it cost to build and they will tax that amount. If you say I traded it for a beer you will be required to estimate the value and sign off.

I'm sorry, but they do not charge you tax on a home built trailer, as you already own the parts.....
 
well that was easy, got ownership transfer done , just had to get new plates , was asked how much I payed said nothing , teller said fine will put it down as $1 . simple as that no bill of sale needed
