Im looking to purchase a tacoma, not for work just for personal use caz i love trucks and i live an active life: snowboarding, mountain biking, camping , etc ...

my main concern is fuel economy

just wondering how much L/100km do you guys get with this thing

4x4 v6 of course

thanks

Can't comment on the v6,but my 2013 2.7,4 cyl,4x4 Taco gets approx 9l/100km.I don't miss the v6 power at all.I have heard that the v6 is not very good on gas.More info here.http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/

9/100km is that speaking from experience or based on what the statistics say ?

might consider 2.7 manual for best fuel economy

do you feel like it needs more power ? When towing let say ?

appreciate your help

I have owned a 05 Tacoma V6 Prerunner (2x4). The truck was a pig on gas. Driving aggressively I could squeeze 375 Kms out of a tank, and when I tried to conserve gas by being conservative with the gas pedal about 450kms.

A bit off topic but a proper wagon will meet all those requirements as well as be more efficient than any pickup truck.

VW, Hyundai, Audi, Mazda all have/had options depending on your price. I have an elantra touring wagon and it takes camping, snowboarding, and bikes with zero issues plus it gets around 7-9l/100km on a 2.0 engine. Get the manual because the auto blows and is the weakness in an otherwise good package.

Had a truck. Bad gas mileage and size made it a pain in the GTA. Thought SUV for next vehicle to get better mileage and keep utility. Ended up going with a car with lots of storage space to maximize my fuel economy and it turned out to be the correct and best decision. I hate wagons. A hot hatch on the other hand....

A high performance AWD one even more.

No matter which truck you pick be prepared for substantial fuel cost increases. Handy has a price tag.

How the hell did "I want a pick up" turn to get a hatchback or wagon?

haha , appreciate all the help. The main reason i want a truck not only because you have so much room to put all your needs, but most importantly I dont want a full AWD car/cuv w.e. I want the ability to switch off the 4x4 for summer and only use it when off roading or winter. Plus i wanna get a dirt bike, so i can load it up, so i dont think SUV will work

Do you really want to get a truck considering you need to drive 700KM for a good mountain?

I'm considering dropping my awd/4x4 kink, just to pick up a beater beetle tdi for all the driving I do...

Have an FJ, which runs the same engine/drivetrain as the Tacoma and im usually getting 10-12L/100km depending how I drive.

Get a Ridgeline. Its all the "truck" you really need.

seats up to 5 comfortably, legendary Honda reliability, truck utility, and so on. Tacoma is junk. Toyota should be embarrassed to put their name on this thing.

If you want real world mileage go to www.fuelly.com

thats a useful site, thank you

I usually go to Blue Mountain for boarding and for mountain biking, 150Km more less

Ridgeline is a good truck dont get me wrong, just a bit more pricey and does not come manual (correct me if im wrong)

Yes,that is what i get out of it.Pulling a trailer (enclosed) would probably be an issue.Pulling a light mc trailer wouldn't be a problem tho as long as you are patient.

Use US GOVT site to get an idea on the best possible MPG the truck would get....i'd say in the real world it is 10-30% lower....
