Hi .. My partner and I are travelling the Ottawa Valley to end up at the Motorcycle and Tattoo show in Petewawa July 27 - 29 .. This is our FIRST long distance trip (more than 1 day and home again) and wonder if anyone has suggestions for the overnights. I CAN"T BELIEVE THE COST OF HOTELS FOR A PLACE TO LAY YOUR HEAD AFTER DARK ! We are in our 50's and want some comfort after a long day of riding. We are motoring seperate on vstars 950 and 1300. Any suggestions ?

I'm thinking about a small tour in that part of the world later this month.

I haven't tried this, but it looks cool! It is a hostel, but they do have private rooms too.

A few other suggestions: I did find a hotel in Eganville for $60. Also, the Fans of Calabogie B&B looks pretty neat even if it's up there in price.

That's why I only tour in the USA these days.

I remember stopping in PA for a beer and a couple of appetizers. I would have paid more here for just the suds. Everything about the Canadian economy makes travel here expensive.

Just about everywhere the hotel rates soar if there's an event on. We stayed at a modest motel in the Finger Lakes for $80 ish a night. When there's a race at Watkins Glen the rate is around $200.

Hi Pikachu,

My name is Lauren and I am the Communications Coordinator for the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association.

I'm not sure what route you are planning to take from Belleville to Petawawa, but there is no shortage of places to stay in the Ottawa Valley!

There is a great Inn in the heart of Eganville called Serendipity on the River. Guests have a private entrance, enjoy free wi-fi, very well decorated and comfortably furnished rooms.

The Fans of Calabogie Bed & Breakfast has a number of beautiful rooms and the hosts are very welcoming - plus you would get to ride the beloved "Calabogie Boogie" route!

The Best Western Renfrew Inn & Conference Centre has recently made a number of upgrades to their rooms and has a wonderful new multicultural restaurant.

In Petawawa there is the Petawawa Quality Inn and Suites - a beautiful, award winning hotel - but it is a bit more expensive. An alternative may be the Portage Place Bed & Breakfast ($70 - $80/night for doubles) located on the famous Petawawa River and quick 5 minute ride to the trade show venue.

For a complete list of places to stay/things to do in the Ottawa Valley, please visit www.ottawavalley.travel or give us a call at our office at 1.800.757.6580.

Happy trails!

Lauren,
Thank you so much for the info and links. It is appreciated, as I love the Ottawa Valley, and look forward to my visits to the area !!

This got me thinking of my idea last year of having a B&B for riders and around Calabogie was looking good. I'd need to find a place with a large building linked to the main house that could have a covered space to drive under on arrival when it's raining. Then inside have divided lock up units big enough to walk around a bike with side cases and hang up riding clothing, etc. plus some chargers, compressors and a central place with a lift, sundry supplies, fluids and tools so no one's trip is cut short.
