Before we get in to the temporary inconvenience (a few hours on a Sunday morning - all over by 2pm), if you're in the area come out and give the 25,000 folks involved (and 100,000 spectators) a cheer.
As usual for the last several years, I will be providing moto support for the 5km sprint and for the wheelchair athletes in the full 42.2km marathon.
If you want to see guts, come watch these folks, they rock.
I'll be in my safety yellow suit riding the orange RE - if you want to buy me a coffee later that's okay too !

Can you share how to become one of these moto support personnel?

How does insurance work when you do this? Technically you are on a closed road and involved with a competition so your normal insurance shouldn't work. Now, you have permission to be on the closed road and the competition you are involved with has nothing to do with pushing the limits of your vehicle so maybe normal insurance is still in force.

It's never been an issue. The event co-ordinators have their insurance and I have mine.
