Toronto-test ride

Are you sure? Most sellers don't allow a test ride, especially for a SS.

Check again and if it's good to go then post again to indicate a time and place, might help hrrrm?

yes he said i could have someone come and test it for me. hes at Yonge St & Finch Ave W, Toronto. I can work out any time you want.

You're willing to trust a random person on this forum to test ride for you and telling you if it's good at your expense if they drop it? Quite a gamble.

no i am willing to have some one who has way more experience then me to show me if i am buying a good or bad bike. its not like i'm asking them to ride it some far off place.... just up and down the street. if u don,t want to do it then aw well. but if i get someone who does want to help me out then that's would be cool.

Just remember if they go down for any reason, You just bought a damaged bike.

I know what you mean but like jeffjones reiterated, if whoever test rides for you falls for any reason, you're going to be responsible for buying the damaged bike.
I am not offering to test ride for you as I'm a noob myself and don't know much about bikes.
What if I were to come out, ride the bike and happen to drop it? I wouldn't pay for it.... Just saying, accidents do happen, it comes down to whether or not you're willing to take the responsibility of covering the damages of another person who claims that they're a pro.

If anything, request for someone that knows a thing or two about bikes to do you a favor of INSPECTING the bike rather than test riding it.
If you really want to see it run, you can get the seller to ride it back and forth.

ya. the chance of it going down with me on it is more then the chances of it going down with someone who's got more experience under there belt.

Now, how would you know how experienced your helper is?
Regardless, just be aware of the risks.

Hey dude, best to either get someone you know and trust, or just don't test it. Most sellers do not allow test rides. If someone has to test it, then you should do it, you will be riding it anyway, so might as well get the hang of it now :)

Brendon,

If you can't find someone you trust that knows what they're doing, then your best bet is to get a reputable bike shop to inspect it for you. I believe Rosey Toes even does mobile safety inspections, in case the bike can't be moved (I've never used them, though, so I can't vouch). Just remember, a safety inspection only looks at safety aspects (lights, horn, mirror, tires, frame, etc.), and doesn't guarantee the mechanical fitness of the bike (engine, transmission, etc.), so tell the shop you want them to inspect it as though they were buying it for themselves. It could save you a lot of money in unexpected repairs down the road.
