while driving home I was thinking how nice it would have been to be riding my bike...

About 5 minutes from my home I see a truck with a few kayaks on his truck coming in the opposite direction. Sure enough I see them sliding off his rack & in my direction. Both kayaks hit the ground & come sliding towards me - one was really long & only left about a half foot of pavement. If I were on my bike I would have had to an emergency swerve onto the shoulder which is loose gravel. As a newbie I'm thinking it would not have faired well for me or the bike. Whew...that's all I can say to that!

Yeah you would've taken an extra 1 minute to put your gear on and get on the bike so the kayaks would've missed you entirely.
