TMP - June26th Video

I love watching videos and the different lines!

Nice!

If that is your normal line through 1 you should keep it tighter on the exit. :) There's a white paint line that comes down the right side of the back straight and that line ends near the exit of 1. Try staying about 5 feet off that line where it ends.

Thanks Tim... I've tried the tight line through there and it has worked a couple of times but then I must have gotten too close to the white line and it was bumpy there as well... I will try that line again tight but stay 5' away... I know there is a sweet spot I just have to find it again.
Let me ask you about another corner I'm not too sure about... corner 6(?) the left, bumpy entering and mid-way through there... is the middle line the fastest/smoothest way through?

I discovered this by accident a couple years ago. The exit of turn 1 is great place to pass if the person in front of you takes a wide exit. It's too bumpy on the wide line to get the power down, you can keep it tight on the smoother pavement and get on the throttle way harder and way sooner. I had a really good race with Luke Bauer last year, both of us had our rear tires go off about half way through the Open Sprint final and it was 6 laps or so with both of us (him right in front of me) getting pretty sideways out of 1 in that narrow line with smooth-ish pavement.

Turn 6 is tricky. I think of all the corners at TMP i screw up that one the most by braking too late and running too deep. One of the keys to going fast around TMP is late-apexing. If you are running the right lines you'll be doing that in just about every corner. If you take a wide entrance into 6 you can get around that bump a little bit and it also sets you up for a fast exit to defend against the "Andrew Westbrook Kamikazi Chicane Pass Attempt" hahahaha

Yeah that's what I figured... Out of all the corners at TMP I think that is probably my slowest.
A "Chicane Pass" wish you would have got that on video... Thanks.

I make up a lot of time by shedding speed all the way through turn 2 instead of braking in a straight line and then carrying steady throttle through it. I treat 2 as the braking zone for 3, basically making it one long decreasing radius corner. You're doing it in 1 so I'm sure you can handle it in 2.

I'm normally pretty good in 6 and it's my favourite corner there. But I took the wrong line and hit that bump on the 26th. Pretty sure I might've needed to change my leathers after that one! :confused1:

Yeah I've probably been through 6 a hundred times and never been happy with it once. In fact that was the first place I ever went off track when I took the exit too wide. Kept the bike up though.

However now that I seem to have corrected my left turning deficiency, I'm looking forward to giving it another try on the 24th.

6 is my favourite corner. It's just that if you hit that bump.....it sets you back a bit and you have to work up to it again almost.
