Hmmmm ..

Mr. R6 where you from ? Id have room in my trailer .. but still deciding if im going.

Do you have any plans for a track day at grand bend or calabogie the June 9th or the 10th??
I would like to attend one of them but im not sure yet.

wasn't planning bogie so soon.. is it pro 6 that is running that one???

Well if it's any consolation the weather forecast for Saturday is improving as time goes on. Started off with 90% pop and 35km/h winds, now it's down to 40% pop and 15km/h.

I've only been to TMP when GWB were running it. How any significant differences when TMP runs it?

Yes, for sure. Uli (sp?) is much more relaxed, which isn't totally a good thing. Instructions at the riders' meeting are brief and somewhat vague...to the point of asking the riders what they think about how the day should be run, and not giving clear instructions on what should be done in response to a yellow or red flag. This is in very stark contrast to GWB where the rules are explained very clearly...one might even say forcefully...and if you aren't paying adequate attention Chris might tell you to "shut the f*** up". It's really a different vibe.

The TMP guys are trying hard and are honestly open to constructive criticism. I'd like to see them develop a clearer set of rules and enforce them more vigorously. They probably should just ask one of the more experienced regular attendees to help them with that, and then they will be just as effective as the other providers.

Edit to add: IMHO, of the three groups that run days at TMP, Racer 5 is the one that strikes the best balance of enforcing the rules and keeping people safe, while at the same time treating everyone respectfully and making sure they have fun. Having said that, I would go to TMP with any of the three running the show if it fit my schedule. Generally the riders there are pretty self-policing and properly concerned with one another's safety.

Well, the weather this morning was looking pretty ominous. On my drive to Cayuga It was raining on and off and didn't look like it was going to improve any.

I was the first one at the track which was wet with standing water in many places. It was also pretty chilly too! The riders meeting was pretty basic, but with only a dozen or so riders, all having been to Cayuga, I guess they felt that there's not much to discuss.

The first hour or two in the morning was pretty cold and still damp in spots. One benefit of the wind was that it helped to dry the track relatively quickly. By late morning and afternoon the sun was out and the track was dry.

The track was also wide open and you could lap as much as you wanted. One thing I noticed was that I started finding my rhythm just when the session would be ending on a "normal" track day. It was fantastic to able to slowly increase speed during a session and know that you had as long as you wanted.

Overall it was a great day and I'm looking forward to going back.

I'll crosspost myself from R6-Forum.

But I'd like to add, that I had a great time with Frank (Gpz900), Shaw and Alias.
The day would have been a lot less fun without you guys!

If anyone wants pictures, my buddy took shots of everyone.
Let me know what your bike looks like if you want them, and i'll post em!

First TD of the year!

Unfortunately the morning was freezing. I literally sat in my jeep with the heat on to stop shivering.
At least the rain let up and the puddles in the track dried, after a few sessions.

Couldn't keep heat in the tires either, and I could feel them slipping a few times per lap.

It warmed up a little in the afternoon, and I put in two good sessions.

I'm on pace from the end of last year according to my buddy timing my laps from the pits, which I was very happy to hear, considering I only had a few good sessions. :)

I had a friend's GoPro mounted on the bike, but the battery died before I could even get a good session in.

New Yamaha Decal on the lowers.

New Stompgrips. They were literally flapping in the wind by the end of the day.
Anyone know of paint-safe adhesive I can use to stick them back on?

Oh, and our pits got messed up by the wind AGAIN. Looks like I need to invest in a better EZ-UP.

Panici, I was there on the red spiderman-ish looking Kawi 636. Pitted with a couple of buddies on a white 1198 and green 636. I saw what happened to your canopy by the end of the day. I'm looking to get something sturdy and reliable right off the bad, so let me know if you have some suggestions for a quality rig.

I think with a limited amount of riders, the 'open track' is a real treat -- you go as much or as little as you want, not having to be concerned with 'getting enough track time' in a given session. The weather turned for the better and it was an amazing afternoon. I can't wait for the next one.. probably July 14th at TMP-Cayuga again.
