Tire Compatibiltiy

hey so i ran over a screw with my rear tire, so i have a patch in in it i need a new tire asap

I have Dunlop Sportmax D207's, the front has lots of life left on it still, if i was to purchase a

Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier rear tire, would it be compatible with the d207F front tire? i cant seem to find any info online if this would work,

i kno in the past i bought a metzler m5 that matched up with my old front tire, a metzler m1, just wondering if this works the same for dunlop

While these two tires are of the same "family": Sportmax, there are 3 generations between the 207 and the Qualifier. They may be close enough to the same shape to be compatible but compounds and construction will be very different.
When did they last make the 207? 2004? Check your date code, could be even older than that. It might be time to spring for new rubber front & rear.
 
Personally? Rear tires come & go.
I gotta have the right front tire - it's the important one.
Then, I can select from any rears that will work with my front...
But the front is key. It should be new, and top-quality.
Riding any bike with a dead (or even half-dead) front tire is like suicide, or at the very least masochistic.
You don't change the fronts too often, therefore the choice should be approached carefully.
Rear tires, though of course important, are less important.
