Tire changing help?

Is there anyone within 10-15 km of the High Park area who has all of the tools to change a rear tire & wants to share their experience with me? I'll do all of the work ;o) I just want to do it once with someone experienced before I invest in all the tools myself.

I read that there isn't really a need to balance the rear (true?) and it's an '06VFR so the rear comes off easy with the single sided swing-arm ;o) Seems easy enough but I've never attempted it so I'm a little apprehensive. Yet, I'm tired of paying shops to do it so often!

The story - for the 3rd season in a row I got a nail in my rear!! **RAGE**
I tried to plug it twice & I thought it took the 2nd time but it still has a really slow leak, so I ordered a new tire from Pete's. I can ride the bike with the slow leak no problem and bring the new tire so I am fairly mobile. Evenings work best for me to meet up.

tried of paying a shop? whats 15$ at rosey toes, just up the street from you. thats the wheel only and balanced, taxes in, cant go wrong.

Ask more experienced people about balancing the tire before you believe one post on the internet. Even dual sports with knobby tires need a static balance, and that VFR is capable of 230kph plus.

Rosey Toes is the most inexpensive tire changer that I know of, and if you bring in just the rims and tires, the price drops further.

Besides, you'll want to be very very careful not to chip the rims on your bike, so if you really are determined to do it yourself, make sure to put duct tape on your tire levers and use a pair of rim savers.

Google "Dynabeads" as a DIY tire balancing method.

Good Luck. Let us know how you made out.

Now if you owned a dual sport and wanted to come up to Richmond Hill, we could do it in my driveway.

Hey man!!

I got an 06 VFR and a static tire balancer!

I tried to change the tire on my own but damnit, that bead would not break! I ended up taking it to my buddies garage in Brampton to break the bead and put the new tire on. It's definitely easy, just requires some muscle. Do you have a compressor as well to get air in the tire?

I can definitely balance it for you, I'll be in Toronto tomorrow and/or maybe Saturday. I would be cautious about taking a tire to Ted's place because I've heard many times that sometimes they'll scratch up the rim.

Shoot me a PM and I'll help out how I can!

Lickety, I've got my own tire machine and balancer. If you want to come to Whitby , I can patch your old tire from the inside or put your new tire on , no charge. I have a soft spot for VFR's. I've owned two of them. It's a NoMar Tire Changer so don't worry about scratching your wheels.

@Bobo & @jay-d
Thanks for your offers. I appreciate them greatly! But I had been meaning to check out Rosey Toes anyways, so I just drove up today with the wheel off the bike. I'm glad I did!
Ted and the guys up there are great. I walked up to the shop door and before I even said anything Ted grabbed the wheel & new tire from me and said "I'll take care of that for you". My baby daughter enjoyed saying hi to the guys too ;)
10 minutes and $15 later, all was good. A lot cheaper than the $40 I paid last year. Highly recommend Rosey Toes from this experience!

Good to know that there are guys as nice as Bobo and jay-d on the forum too!

Anytime man!

I got the exact same bike and I always wrench on it myself. Still learning, but I'm sure I'll know the ins and outs of the bike pretty soon. If you need any help with yours, don't hesitate to shoot me a pm, I got all the tools and everything too!
