tips for tire tread?

I have never changed my tires on my bike. I owned one in 07-08 and had to sell it before changing. I just bought one this year with scrubs on them. The parts where most people would consider chicken strips is bare of any tread at all. There is still a lot of tread in the middle and just about halfway to 3/4 to either side. Is it dangerous to be taking any turns where I would be using the part of the tire without tread?

While we're talking about tires, where would be a good place to go get scrubs or a new set of tires for cheap?

Slicks have no tread sipes at all and offer the most grip.

Look for the tire's wear indicators and see if they need to be replaced based on that. It's just a little bump within the treads.
