hi guys . i am currently riding a 84 zx3 and have a little problem. About a week ago some idiot pulled out in front of me in his car and we met!!!.with no cosmetic damage to the bike. the problem is ever since then the bike has been hard to start, it sounds like its gasping and wheezing. when its running it smells like gas from the exhausts. it idles fine. when giving it a hand full of trottle it hesitates and stutters. in the afternoon it is harder to start ,posibility of being out in the cold. any ideas what to try? could the cam chain have jumped? if so where would be a good place to get it fixed ?

Very unlikely cam chain jumped, quite possible that a rubber part got dislodged and it is sucking in air after the carbs.

This may be easy to fix, but it will be hard to diagnose over the internet.
 
i thought of that already and did try to look for vacuum leaks using propane . they seem pretty well sealed up
i have noticed the fuel comsumption has gone up a bit too

May have a float or two stuck loading a cylinder or two with fuel. Or possibly already fouled a plug or two killing a cylinder or two. Check the exhaust temps to tell you which is the offending cylinders.
 
take it to rosey toes he will repair it cheaper than anyone. sounds like an easy fix, we dont see to many zx3's anymore?
 
it ended up a as being a couple of problems, cracked intake manifolds, worn float valves, loose airfilter and a bad coil . thanks to everyone for their input. i decided to fix things myself , otherwise i would never learn and be stuck at the side of the road someday.

The VIN number or the model code on your ownership paperwork might refer to it as that, but everyone else (and I mean EVERYone) will understand the term GPZ750.

I have a 3BF. Do you know what that is?

According to Google, this is a ZX3 (and it's what first came to mind when I saw those characters)
