time to leave bell?

only way to opt-out is to enter your Bell Mobile Phone #?

What if you're just a TV Subscriber?
or Internet Subscriber?

No mention how to opt-out there.

at least they're telling you before they start it, but should be an opt-in feature for those that like this crap. Taking the 'facebook' approach.

Who the hell actually believes this:

"Bell says the data it collects will not be linked with a customer’s identity."

Really?! OF COURSE it's going to be linked to customers! Even if the information they collected is kept entirely isolated from your personally identifying information, it's a simple as putting 2 and 2 together when looking at the data to determine who does what. And to then think that they won't is down right naive.

How are they even able to get away with this?

Easily like with almost every other company that exists.

yea this is BS, time to vote with our wallets on this one. Does techsavvy have a similar policy yet? I only have internet with bell but sounds like its time to jump ship on that one.

F@CK BELL

I left Rogers for Teksavvy. Couldn't be happier. They even call me to see if everything was ok. They are much more customer focused

Teksavvy is actually part of the group fighting for privacy. That said, the companies they rent infrastructure from probably spy on all your stuff anyway. I know they've repeatedly accused Rogers of throttling certain Internet traffic of Teksavvy customers even though I don't think they're supposed to.

Plus the various government agencies store everything too (as has recently come to be public knowledge) so nothing is safe any more. Best to just assume if you accessed it through the Internet then somebody, somewhere can find out. Not that I worry about it much.

Only problem is if something goes wrong you get a whole lot of finger pointing. Rogers will blame Teksavvy, Teksavvy will blame Rogers (it's usually actually Rogers fault) and the customer is stuck with no one fixing anything. Usually not a problem, though.

read into this some more, you can't Opt Out of the monitoring, only the targeted adverts.

Does anyone actually believe that they can just opt out of one company?
If Techsavy and other resellers use Bell or Rogers then none of this matters.
From my understanding even Rogers runs on Bells equipment/lines at some point.

So they tell you they wont monitor at your front door but they will still monitor and mark the info once it's in the street/stream.
It just makes you feel better but it's as if someone is standing at the end of your street taking photos of your cars/plates.

This boat has sailed, as long as you are connected then you are being monitored.

Even if you could almost every website you visit tracks everything you do, including other sites you go to, half the apps on your phones track everything you do (like just today I noticed the Kijiji app now has a "feature" to monitor what apps you have open, don't ask me why), and if you've got an Android device Google collects all of it. Most of our email accounts are also easily accessible by anyone in government or police and the information is sold by the provider (Hotmail, Gmail, etc). There's hardly any point in being concerned about privacy any more because we already lost it years ago. This isn't even tinfoil hat stuff any more, it's public and fully admitted to by almost everyone.

phew I feel so safe already
planetspy

well it's hard to have large scales wars so in order to keep the economy going might as well have cyber war
In 5 years the cyber wars will cost more than other wars...good luck tracking that money...lol

This reminds me of the company that makes computer viruses also make the antivirus software:lmao:

I'm not on contract so I'm not worried

I can leave anytime if I'm not happy

Leave Teksavvy if you're not happy? Anyone can? They don't use contracts. I didn't even realize people were silly enough to lock into contracts for things like Internet until I asked my neighbors if they wanted to share my Teksavvy and they all told me they were locked into contracts. I'm not locked into a contract for any services in my life except maybe hydro. That whole idea seems silly to me.

My point was, while you will most definitely be more happy with Teksavvy than Rogers, is that it might take longer to get a problem fixed than if you were just with Rogers because Rogers would be more likely to help you when you are their customer. Whereas when you are a Teksavvy customer they don't care about you at all but since Teksavvy cable services are on the Rogers infrastructure you still need Rogers to fix it if there's a problem. Personally I don't think it's enough to make anyone consider doing business with a company as bad as Rogers but many people seem to do it for some reason.

I don't think I will get anywhere arguing with you. You sound like a troll. I said in my first post that I'm happy with their customer service & they went so far as to call me after the setup. Then you made this post & say Teksavvy don't care about me at all.

Sent from my tablet using my paws

I'm not arguing with you at all and I never said Teksavvy won't /doesn't care about you. I was just making people, that may be thinking of switching, aware of this single downside to using them. I just didn't understand why you were pointing out that you could leave them at any time since it's common knowledge that any one of their customers can easily leave at any time and I also didn't think that it would be worth leaving Teksavvy for. I don't know how you got the idea that I was telling you Teksavvy doesn't care about you at all. Just because they care doesn't mean they can do anything when Rogers or Bell refuses to fix the problem since all Teksavvy services run through either Rogers or Bell. It will be one of those two that don't care about you.
